Indonesian Navy Thwarts Smuggling of 36 Kg of Methamphetamine in Lhokseumawe Waters

TNI AL, Belawan, MRN – Commander of the Main Base of the Indonesian Navy (Lantamal) I First Admiral TNI Johanes Djanarko Wibowo held a Press Conference regarding the arrest of 36 packs (± 36 Kg) of methamphetamine-type narcotics in Lhokseumawe Waters by the Intelligence Team and F1QR Lanal Lhokseumawe, located at Mako Lantamal I, Jalan Serma Hanafiah No. 01, Belawan, Medan, North Sumatra, Tuesday (14/03/2023).

In the Press Conference, Danlantamal I said that this arrest started with information from the public regarding the smuggling of methamphetamine-type drugs through Aceh waters. Furthermore, the Intelligence Team and F1QR Lanal Lhokseumawe carried out investigations and development related to this information by forming 3 (three) teams namely the Land Pam Team, the Reconnaissance Team and the Ambush Team.


On Sunday (12/3) at 6:35 p.m., at Ujong Bateek Beach, one (1) pointed boat was observed approaching the beach, and moments later throwing objects towards the beach. The Joint Team informed Sea Hunter Lanal Lhokseumawe to carry out the pursuit of the beheaded boat and the Joint Team on land ambushed someone who received the thrown item.


During the ambush, he succeeded in securing the recipient of the goods, who allegedly threw 36 packs (two sacks) of methamphetamine-type narcotics, then the recipient of the goods was secured at Lhokseumawe Lanal along with evidence suspected of methamphetamine-type narcotics, while the beheading boat escaped and not yet found.


On Monday (13/3), the Joint Team of Lantamal I and Lanal Lhokseumawe in collaboration with the North Sumatra BNNP carried out development and search for drug owners who were secured. At 15.45 WIB, the Joint Team managed to carry out an ambush and secure 1 (one) suspected courier and drug owner in Meunasah Tutong Village, Lhoksukon District, North Aceh Regency.


For this success, the Indonesian Navy saved the Indonesian people from the dangers of drugs. The Indonesian Navy is committed to always fully supporting the government in its efforts to fight drugs and eradicate drug trafficking (war on drugs). The activity of arresting narcotics smuggling by sea was a direct direction and instruction from Kasal Admiral TNI Muhammad Ali, SE, MM, M.Tr.Opsla.


“This is a form of the seriousness of the Indonesian Navy as law enforcers at sea who are very concerned about eradicating drug trafficking both from/in/through the sea in the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia, especially the working area of ​​Lanal Lhokseumawe which is part of Belawan Lantamal I,” concluded Danlantamal I .


This is in line with the Daily Orders from the Chief of Naval Staff (Kasal) Admiral TNI Muhammad Ali, one of which is “Strengthen dedication and loyalty to the Navy, TNI, Nation and State and the constitution in supporting national development programs, and making the TNI Commander’s priority program to realize the TNI as a patriot of the Republic of Indonesia as a guide in carrying out the duties of the Navy “.
